The Sanctuary Reveals the Gospel
The earthly sanctuary was not merely a building; it was God's visual illustration of the entire plan of redemption fulfilled in Jesus Christ.
Every sacrifice pointed to Christ.
Every priest pointed to Christ.
Every article of furniture pointed to Christ.
Every feast pointed to Christ.
The sanctuary teaches that salvation is entirely the work of Jesus—from the forgiveness of sins to the final blotting out of sin.

Christ Is Our Righteousness
The greatest need of every sinner is not merely forgiveness but the righteousness of Christ.
The Bible declares:
"But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption."— 1 Corinthians 1:30 (KJV)
We possess no righteousness of our own.

Therefore, God credits Christ's perfect obedience to all who believe.

The Sanctuary and Righteousness by Faith
The sanctuary message reveals more than forgiveness.
It reveals that Jesus now ministers for His people in the heavenly sanctuary.

Christ not only died for us.
He now lives for us.
He intercedes for us.
He cleanses us.
He prepares a people to stand before Him clothed only in His righteousness.
The Millerite Movement
The Millerites faithfully proclaimed the prophecy of Daniel 8:14, expecting Christ's return around the close of the 2300 prophetic days.
Although they misunderstood the event, God used the Great Disappointment to direct believers to Christ's ministry in the heavenly sanctuary rather than to an earthly event.
Their experience fulfilled prophecy and led to a deeper understanding of Christ's heavenly work.
The Early Adventist Understanding
Early Seventh-day Adventists came to understand that Daniel 8:14 referred to the cleansing of the heavenly sanctuary—the antitypical Day of Atonement.
This ministry calls God's people to repentance, faith, and wholehearted surrender while Christ ministers as our High Priest.
The sanctuary message is not merely prophetic information—it is the revelation of Jesus Christ's saving work.
The 1888 Message
In 1888, the message presented by A. T. Jones and E. J. Waggoner emphasized that righteousness comes only through faith in Christ.
This message did not replace the sanctuary doctrine.
It magnified it.
The sanctuary shows where Christ ministers.
Righteousness by faith explains how Christ saves.
Together they proclaim the complete gospel.
The investigative judgment is not about earning salvation by works but about revealing those who have trusted completely in Christ and allowed His grace to transform their lives.
Faith That Works
Saving faith never stands alone. It produces obedience born from love.
"If ye love me, keep my commandments."— John 14:15 (KJV)
"For by grace are ye saved through faith... not of works..."— Ephesians 2:8–9 (KJV)
Yet that same grace produces a new life.
"For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works..."— Ephesians 2:10 (KJV)
Obedience is the fruit—not the root—of salvation.
The Final Message
The Three Angels' Messages call the world to:
Worship the Creator.
Come out of spiritual Babylon.
Reject false worship.
Keep the commandments of God.
Live by the faith of Jesus

The everlasting gospel and the sanctuary message are inseparable. The sanctuary reveals Christ's ministry, while righteousness by faith reveals the means by which sinners are accepted before God and transformed into His likeness.

Am I trusting in my own righteousness or in Christ's alone?
Do I see Jesus as my continual High Priest and Advocate?
Is my obedience flowing from love and faith rather than an attempt to earn God's favor?
Am I preparing daily to meet Christ by abiding in Him?

Heavenly Father, thank You for providing a perfect Savior whose righteousness alone can justify me before Your throne. Thank You that Jesus is my High Priest, continually interceding on my behalf in the heavenly sanctuary. Teach me to trust completely in His merits, to surrender fully to His transforming grace, and to reflect His character in my daily life.
